Forest of Eternal Darkness is the fifth episode of the Record of Grancrest War anime series.

Synopsis[]

Pledging to serve Villar, Theo heads to Altirk with Siluca. The first task Villar gives them is to govern the Forest of Eternal Darkness, a territory ruled by vampires. When Theo and Siluca head to the forest, they see the shadow of an ominous-looking woman...

Long Summary[]

At the Vampire King's castle, both he and the Werewolf Queen have a brief confrontation with each other. The confrontation is interrupted by Yana a descendent of the Black Witch, whom is put off by the lip service from the Queen. Outside the castle Werewolf twins, Emma and Luna wait for their mother and are soon greeted by Yana.

In Altirk, Theo is officiated as Knight Guard by Count Villar. Afterward, Siluca introduced to the three mages, Laura, Helga, and Colleen. Margaret reports that the prince of Dartania Milza Kuches shall be visiting the castle soon. During the dinner, the topic of discussion is about whom will become the next emperor. It changes when Prince Milza shifts his attention to Theo. Count Villar then formally introduces Theo to Milza, whom he cares not for as he lacks ambition. The topic changes once again when Lassic is mentioned about his conquest of Savis.

Inside the castle library, while Theo dusts off the books, Siluca reads a book on the Demon Lord. It's written that witches, werewolves, and vampires helped fend against the demon forces in Altirk. Because of this, the witches that helped defend Altirk were given autonomy by the Constance Clan. Impressed by the power of the Constance clan, Theo notes how inferior his own land is compared to the demons and the Rossini family. Soon, Laura informs the two that they've been summoned to the throne room, and there they're introduced to the witch Zelma. Count Villar then gives them their first real task to investigate why hordes of werewolves are heading to the Forest of Eternal Darkness.

Meanwhile, the werewolves tracking the scents of both Emma and Luna to the Forest of Eternal Darkness and are confronted by the broomstick riding Yana. Following the request of Yana to go alone, the queen acquiesces. By dusk, Theo and Siluca arrive near the forest on horseback and are met by the werewolf clan. Theo tries to talk with them, but they threaten him to return to whence he came. A shadow of the Vampire King intervenes and allows passage to the two emissaries of Count Villar through his forest.

Inside the castle, the Vampire King plays the organ as Theo and Siluca enter his domain. Deep underground, the Werewolf Queen fights against Yana who has her twin daughters hostage and loses her right arm in the process. Back to Theo and Siluca who meet with the Vampire King Dimitrie, ask about the Werewolf Queen. Dimitrie answers that she's with Yana who had business with her. Furthermore, he has his visitors convey the message to their lord, that the Vampire's goal is to restart the Dark Ages with the Ultimate Chaos. If the Grancrest fusion were to occur then the twilight era would end and Dimitrie would ultimately die. When asked if he was the cause of the attack at the wedding, Dimitrie becomes apprehensive and Theo readies himself to defend Siluca. Although they don't fight, Dimitrie reveals that the Queen is in the basement in the castle with Yana. He then leaves his castle by transforming into a flock of bats.

Down in the basement, the Werewolf Queen is at heavily injured and as Yana taunts her, Theo and Siluca arrive at the scene. Learning that Dimitrie has abandoned her, Yana although disconcerted, resolves herself to simply go wild. She first attacks the two with her broomstick, but they manage to deflect it. Transforming into a wolf, the queen rescues her daughters from captivity. Yana tries to recapture them and sends her two gargoyles after them, they, however, manage to evade capture and the queen decapitates the gargoyles. Using the last of her energy, the Queen manages to claw Yana's left leg, but, in turn, is hit by a magic spell that fatally injures her. Escaping the scene, Yana is attacked by Siluca who tries to stop her, but fails. The twins embrace their mother one last time and she passes away.

Outside the forest, a funeral is given for the Werewolf Queen whos name was Clara by her clan. After the funeral is over, the new head of the Werewolf Clan thanks Theo and Siluca for their actions.

Back at Altirk, it's learned that the Werewolf Clan has pledged their allegiance toward Theo. Furthermore, Jana managed to evade capture and the werewolf twins have become Theo's maids.
