Leader is the Eighteenth episode of the Record of Grancrest War anime series.

Summary

All of the lords in the Altirk Treaty gather in the throne room of Castle Unicorn and have a brief moment of silence for Count Villar. Once that is settled Theo now of the Rank of Duke is made the new leader of the Altirk Treaty. During this, Selge announces that he's forsaking his surname and adopting his mother's surname of Stelea. Furthermore, he's abdicating the rights of the Constance family to his younger brother Igor. Now that those matters are settled with, Theo proposes to follow the late Count Villar's wish for the Union to make peace with the Alliance. Therefore, in order to take a neutral position from those matters, Theo proposes they sever ties with the Union. Although this would not rattle their relationship with the Union more, but also be fortuitous to the Alliance. Theo claims they'll still work with the Union and fight against the Alliance, all in order to allow the two sides to reconcile with each other.

Once those matters are done being discussed, Theo starts a celebration for the victories they accomplished on the battlefield. Just then Irvin and the other chamberlains arrive in the throne room with a huge banquet of food. The lords then enjoy a lovely soiree and later that night, Theo enjoys some tea with Siluca in her quarters. They talk about Theo's new Rank, his new position as the leader of the Altirk Treaty, how humble he was towards the other lords in the party. Finally, Theo confesses to Siluca that when he returns to Marza he wants Siluca by his side not as his partner, but as his lover.

Meanwhile, Aubest reports to Marrine about how Theo is the new leader of the Altirk Treaty. To combat this sudden turn of events, Marrine plans to eliminate the Earl of Le Couleurs to dramatically undermine the Treaty's military power.

The following day, Priscilla waters the flower garden and is approached by Theo and Siluca. By the fountain, they discuss how Pope Leone of the Order of the Crest has proclaimed himself to be the Holy Grail. This conflicts with the fact that Priscilla herself is the Holy Grail, as she was born with a Crest that resembles a Grail. Priscilla's father was also the founder of the Order of the Crest who preached that the Holy Grail could dispel the chaos of the world. Taking all of this into consideration, Pope Leone could see Priscilla as a threat to his position. Not only that, but since the Order's creed to is to gather all of the world's Crests, he'll try and usurp his Crest too. However, Theo claims that if it'd save the lives of his friends then he'd surrender it without a second thought. Irvin then approaches Siluca and reports to her that the Earl of Le Couleurs has died in battle against the Waldlind forces. The news disheartens Theo and also learns that Marques Dawson has joined the Alliance, confirming that he had a secret agreement with them. Because of the sudden turn of events, Siluca proposes they visit Jalucia and see Lord Alexis. Despite having severed their ties with the Union, it's suspected that Alexis dejection would be remedied by Theo's presence.

At the Jaluca harbor, Theo and Siluca await Irvin's message that Alexis would love to see the two. They talk with Alexis about Theo becoming the leader of the Treaty, him breaking with the Union, and how Alexis should reconcile with Marrine. Hesitant to do so with the war between the Union and the Alliance, Alexis is convinced after learning Marrine still loves him. Filled with determination, Alexis then plans to attack Marques Dawson and mobilizes his army to attack Dawson's fortress.

In Marques Dawson's Fortress, the Marques relishes the recent victory against the Earl of Le Couleurs. Just then a messenger of his reports that the Alexis' forces are invading, astonishing the Marques.
