Chaos (混沌 Konton) is space between dimensions in the Grancrest War Universe.
Overview[]
Factors that twist the laws of nature and cause disruption throughout the world. When Chaos density is high, the laws of nature are distorted, causing demons, monsters, spirits and the like to appear in this world, which also becomes vulnerable to devastating damage and disasters such as massive wildfires and the release of toxic gases. These are known as Chaos Disasters. Due to presence of Chaos mages can cast spells and use magic. Artists inscribe their bodies with it to gain ability to do things normally impossible, vampirism and lycantropy could be considered greatest arts. Chaos came to Ataltan when ancient humans who had incredibly advanced technology experimented with new kind of energy. That experiment went wrong and explosion was so powerfull that walls between dimensions were shatered and Chaos leaked in world of Grancrest Saga.Advanced society as result collapsed reverting back to dark ages. Mages academy was established and they in turn established crest system. Normaly Chaos is spread everywhere and overtime it converges bringing random creature from random dimention to world. Mages can summon creatures from other dimensions, one example is Caith Sith of Tir na nog summoned by Silluca in two occasions. It is also worth noting that when Grancrest is formed that all the Chaos will be removed form Ataltan, Mages and Withches will lose ability to use magic, artists will lose their arts but it will not harm nobody becuse artists and mages become normal humans. Artists take on form of chaos spheres as price to pay for their art if killed before Grancrest purges all chaos. Also vampires and werewolves do not die as result of Grancrest removing chaos from Ataltan, they become normal humans so vampires lose immortality and werewolves lose ability to shapeshift and regenerative abilities.
